Terms of Use

These terms govern the use of the JXL Convert website (jpegxlconvert.com). By using it, you accept them. If you do not agree with them, do not use it.

1. The service

JXL Convert is a free tool that converts images to and from the JPEG XL format, and opens .jxl files for viewing, directly in your browser. No account is required. Your files are processed locally on your device and are never uploaded — how that works is explained in section 3 of our Privacy & Cookie Policy.

Because the work is done by your own machine, the result depends on your browser, the memory you have free and the size of the images. Very large files can exhaust the tab's memory and fail.

The site is run by one private individual, in a personal capacity. There is no company behind it. Who is responsible for it, and how to reach them, is in section 2 of the Privacy Policy.

2. Acceptable use

You agree to use the tool only for lawful purposes and only with content you have the right to process. You must not use the service to handle illegal material or to infringe anyone's rights.

You must not try to overload, attack or disrupt the site, nor use automated means to hammer it. Since every conversion runs on your own machine, there is nothing to gain from it anyway.

As there are no accounts, none of your content is hosted here: there is nothing for us to moderate or take down, because nothing you convert ever reaches our systems.

3. "As is", no warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that conversions will be error-free, that every piece of metadata survives, that the quality will be what you expected, or that the site will always be up or still exist tomorrow. Always keep a copy of your original files before converting.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, this free service, including the loss or corruption of files.

Nothing above limits liability that the law does not allow to be excluded, and nothing affects the rights you have as a consumer.

5. Advertising

This site is free and stays free because it is funded by advertising. It uses Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-9791902883190551), whose script loads on every content page of the site — every page except the 404 error page.

Google and other third-party vendors use cookies and advertising identifiers to serve and measure those ads, and — only where you consent to it — to personalise them. What is collected, by whom, on what legal basis and for how long is set out in section 6 of the Privacy & Cookie Policy, and the cookies themselves in section 7.

If you are in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent notice lets you accept, reject or configure advertising cookies before any personalised ad is shown, and lets you change your mind afterwards through the "Privacy settings" link in the footer of every page. Section 8 of the Privacy & Cookie Policy explains how it works.

Refusing advertising does not restrict the tool. The converter and the viewer work exactly the same either way. Using ad-blocking software does not breach these terms.

We do not control what the ads say or where they lead. Once you click an ad you leave this site, and the destination site's own terms and privacy policy apply.

These terms are governed by Spanish law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live.

These terms exist in five languages and all of them say the same thing, and carry the same date. If they ever disagree, the Spanish version prevails, because the person responsible is established in Spain.

We may update these terms. The "last updated" date at the top of the page identifies the version in force.
